Mac Prototype With SIM Card

A Mac rumors site recently reported that a prototype 3G Macbook Pro was listed on Craigslist for sale. The model was originally purchased for parts, but the buyer was apparently able to repair it to functional condition and resell it instead. The machine included a SIM card slot on one side and had an extendable antenna to receive 3G signals.
The prototype was built in 2007 for testing purposes and for various reasons it was never developed fully enough to make it to the Apple Store. The 15 inch Macbook Pro model illustrates an intention by Apple to manufacture 3G models that would allow users to stay connected wherever they go. However, due to the difficulties of negotiating a partnership with the major mobile carriers, the company reportedly dropped the plans.
