Travelers to Singapore will want to pick up the best prepaid SIM card for their trip at the airport. The StarHub MaxMobile Prepaid SIM card is probably your best bet for reasons, including the fact that it saves you a ton of money over the option of using Australian SIM cards for global roaming.

Carriers like Optus, Telstra and Vodafone charge between $10 to $20 per megabyte for internet use, which translates into a cost of $20 to $40 to send one standard iPhone picture via email. Likewise, calling home to Australia from Singapore using roaming costs up to $3 per minute, and receiving international calls can run up to $1.90 per minute. The StarHub prepaid SIM card offers a much cheaper option. StarHub is a local provide of 3G service in Singapore, and offers unlimited data use starting from SGD $12.

The movie tickets can be redeemed at several different cinema chains within the country, including Citicinemas, CCM, and Multicines. Tickets must be redeemed before December 3, 2011 and the tickets cannot be used for 3D movies. The Australian Communications Media Authority (ACMA) is pushing the mobile phone industry to make some changes in how they advertise their products to consumer.

A SIM card can be worse than a credit card today in terms of hidden fees and charges, so the ACMA wants carriers to specify exactly how much consumers will pay for a two-minute call, a 1 megabyte download and standard text will cost on their service. The ACMA is giving the industry until next year to formulate their recommendations into a code that protects consumers. If they fail to do so, the next step will be a move towards legislation forcing them to change. Once an industry code is formulated and registered with ACMA, any company that violates it can be find up to $250,000 in Federal Court.
